Jennifer Lawrence

Well, I’m a little bias on this post since we’re from the same city as the starlet that stole our hearts in The Hunger Games, but I mean what’s there not to love? She’s got style, she’s got grace, and she’s basically Miss United States. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky she ventured out of our fair city at the ripe of 14 to find a talent agent in New York. She graduated from high school 2 years early with a stunning 3.9 GPA, and began seeking work in Hollywood. Lawrence's lead role in Debra Granik's Winter's Bone, which won best picture at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, is often noted as her career’s turning point.

Like many other things about Louisville, Jennifer is quickly moving up and up in the world. Her gracious hometown has been undoubtedly positively affected by her stardom. We were named 1 of the top 10 travel destinations for the coming year, and number 8 out of the top 10 affordable places to live in the US while still having a life.

She completely stole my heart last night as she admitted to wanting to push Taylor Swift down the stairs. Maybe she did it all in good fun, but in the back of my head I’m hoping she meant it seriously just a little bit. Two thumbs up for you J Lawrence.

If you shop with Street Moda and live outside of our lovely city; I would suggest planning a trip to the Derby City to give it a gander. I had a friend in from out of town this week, and he was completely taken by surprise at the culture and life inside our city. Here at Street Moda I am very proud to be working for a local company that’s been a mover and shaker in the city for years now.

  • I simply adore Jennifer Lawrence and am so proud that she comes from our fair city. With her great talent and grace, I hope Hollywod soon percieves Ky in a different light than it has in the past. I am really sick of all the references to Kentuckians as hillbillies. Thank you Jennifer for helping in raising the bar for Louisville.
